A St. Paul woman was sentenced Thursday for having a sexual relationship with a man under her supervision at a residential corrections facility.

Karen Marie Watson, 28, was sentenced in Ramsey County District Court to one day of jail time and 10 years of probation on one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

She pleaded guilty to the charge in early November.

Watson was working as a re-entry technician and shift supervisor at RS Eden when she developed a sexual relationship with a 26-year-old man sent there to await sentencing in a federal court case.

RS Eden is a St. Paul community-based residential corrections and substance-abuse facility.

The two had sex on several occasions, including at the facility, in a hospital where the man was receiving medical care, and in Watson’s car after she picked him up from the hospital to drive him back to RS Eden.

Watson also gave the man a Samsung cellphone for personal use, which is not permitted by RS Eden. He used it to take videos and photographs of the two engaged in sexual acts at the hospital.

Watson was no longer employed at RS Eden when charges were filed against her last July.
