St. Paul police want the public’s help to identify two armed robbers who shot at four men in a car near a Frogtown bank last month.
The robbery attempt took place about 8:20 p.m. Feb. 10, just after two men cashed checks and deposited money at a bank at University Avenue and Arundel Street, said Steve Linders, a spokeman for St. Paul police.

The two suspects approached a car and asked two men inside if they could get a cigarette from them, Linders said. The men said no, and the suspects moved on.
But when two others returned to the car from the bank, the suspects came back, each holding a gun, and demanded everything the four men had.
When the men in the car resisted, one of the suspects fired a gun into the air. The suspects ran north on Arundel, stopping under an alley street light to fire at the men’s car as they drove off. The car was struck twice, Linders said.
An off-duty police officer in the area heard the shots and called dispatchers. The four victims — ranging in age from 18 to 35 — also called police to report the crime.
“We’ve been looking for these two and haven’t been able to locate them, so now we’re looking to the public for help,” Linders said, citing a strong public response after distributing photos of a violent convenience store robber.
The suspects were both described as Hispanic, according to a police post on Facebook. One suspect is about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds or more and was wearing a black sweater and red jacket. The other, who carried a brown revolver, is about 5 foot 5 and 140 pounds and was wearing a sweatshirt with the hood pulled close around his face.
Anyone who can help identify the suspects is asked to call Sgt. Dan Zebro at 651-266-5763.
