Blaine man killed, children injured in collision with semi

A Blaine man is dead and two children critically injured after the car they were in collided with a semitrailer Wednesday evening in Blaine.

The car was traveling east on 85th Avenue and the semi was southbound on University Avenue when the vehicles collided just before 8 p.m., according to Blaine police.

The car’s driver, Mohamed Amin, 19, died at the scene, according to Anoka County’s medical examiner. Two passengers, ages 12 and 13, were taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, police said.

The semi’s driver, a 41-year-old St. Paul man, was not injured. He is cooperating with investigators, police said.
