The St. Louis County sheriff’s office is attempting to locate a male suspected of killing South Bend, Ind., woman whose remains were found Monday in a rural area of the county in northeastern Minnesota.

Christina Marie Woods, 28, was reported missing early June, and on June 26 investigators from the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department in Indiana requested assistance from St. Louis County sheriff’s office to help locate her. Indiana investigators had believed she traveled to Minnesota, authorities said.
Woods’ remains were found Monday in a shallow grave in Beatty Township, northeast of Cook, Minn., by local investigators. According to authorities, the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office preliminary autopsy indicates she died of homicidal violence.
Investigators are seeking Daniel Gregory Lynn, 40, of South Bend, in connection with the homicide. According to police, the property where Woods was located belongs to a family member of Lynn’s.
Lynn is described as white, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 210 pounds, bald with a mustache and goatee. He also has tattoos on both sides of his neck. A warrant for his arrest was issued in St. Louis County.
Authorities said they believe Woods was killed during the week of June 11. Lynn was seen in the Duluth and Virginia/Mountain Iron areas in the days after the homicide took place. He is believed to have returned to Indiana, but may still be in Minnesota or gone elsewhere.
Anyone who has seen Lynn or who has information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the St. Louis County sheriff’s office communications center at 218- 742-9825.
