A Twin Cities actor and singer suffered a minor injury after a carjacking early Sunday morning, officials say.
Thomas Mychael Rambo, better known as “T. Mychael Rambo,” gave five juvenile males a ride in his car late Saturday night, according to police records. Officers responded around 12:30 a.m. Sunday and found Rambo, who received a cut on the back of his head, several blocks from the site of the carjacking, police say.
Rambo told officers he was approached near Lexington Parkway N. and University Ave. W. by a group of juvenile males who asked for a ride, a St. Paul Police spokesman said. Agreeing, Rambo told officials he then drove them west down University Ave.
Several blocks down, the suspects told Rambo to turn north on Hamline Ave. N. and then directed him on to Charles Ave, officials say. Rambo was “suddenly struck” with what he believes was a firearm, the spokesman said.
According to officials, he then jumped out of the car. The passenger in the front and one from the back of the car followed him out and demanded his iPhone and cash, while covering their faces.
Rambo’s unoccupied car was located on the 1100 block of Ross Ave. on Monday.
Rambo, a playwright, director, actor and singer, has work that can been seen on several Minnesota stages, including the Guthrie Theater, Penumbra Theatre and Mixed Blood Theatre.
