A 4-month-old girl died in Minneapolis on Saturday evening after allegedly being assaulted by a man believed to be her father.
According to a news release from the Minneapolis Police Department, officers from Minneapolis and the University of Minnesota were called to the 1900 block of Franklin Avenue Southeast just before 5 p.m. When they arrived, they found paramedics treating the infant for injuries “stemming from an assault.” The girl was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Officers took an adult male, whom they believe to be the girl’s father, into custody. They are not seeking other suspects.
The girl’s name will be released pending an autopsy by the Hennepin County medical examiner’s office.
