Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with a shooting that killed a 20-year-old man and an infant in Minneapolis on Sunday.
The suspect was arrested was booked Wednesday morning into the Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of murder, according to police. Officials did not release the boy’s name.
Police found Gustav Duane Christianson II and 7-month-old Jayden Redden in the back seat of a vehicle a block from Children’s Hospital shortly after responding to a 911 “shots fired” call just before 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
Christianson was pronounced dead at the scene, and paramedics took the infant to Children’s Hospital, where he died. The two victims were not related, police said.
A decision on charges is expected Thursday, and the Hennepin County attorney’s office said that the suspect will likely be adjudicated in the adult court system.
