A Minneapolis man has been charged with fatally stabbing another man last week.

Nineteen-year-old Robinson Fabricio Palacios-Castro was charged Monday in Hennepin County District Court with second-degree murder in the death of 29-year-old Elias Lopez-Lopez of Minneapolis.

According to the complaint, police were called Wednesday night about a man armed with a knife fighting someone else. When officers arrived, they found Lopez-Lopez had been stabbed multiple times and was lying on the steps of an apartment building in the 3000 block of Clinton Avenue South, in Minneapolis’ Phillips neighborhood.

The victim later died at Hennepin County Medical Center from the stab wounds, one of which hit his heart. Police said the suspect was arrested without incident after officers canvassed the neighborhood.

Palacios-Castro remains in the Hennepin County Jail and makes his first court appearance Tuesday. Prosecutors are requesting bail of $1 million.
